Do you need a Green Card to travel abroad? And how do you properly obtain it?

In the early days of the war, countries in the EU did not require a Green Card for Ukrainians fleeing the hostilities. Poland provided free insurance policies, and Germany covered the liability of Ukrainian drivers. However, starting from April, EU countries changed their requirements and began to demand this document.

A Green Card is a regular motor liability insurance policy that is valid outside Ukraine. It can be issued or renewed even while outside Ukraine. Otherwise, you would have to buy expensive import insurance in the country of your stay.

Since September 1, 2022, MTIBU has changed the rules for issuing a Green Card for travel abroad. Now it must be obtained one day before the trip, and you also need to print the electronic contract because border services require a paper version of the policy.
